New: Polyurethane nubbed belts Synchrodrive N10

Even narrow belts run absolutely straight

SYNCHROFLEX and BRECOFLEX are the names to remember worldwide where the investment product industry needs polyurethane tim-ing belts from Mulco-Europe EWIV. A range unrivalled in its vari-ety, quality and high technological standard covers almost every application in power transmission technology. Yet, there are still areas calling for the ingenuity of designers to devise new and very special solutions. Up until today, "Narrow belt, absolutely straight run" was one of the subjects, a solution to which was not at all an easy task. Based on the combination of steel cord tension members and polyurethane, having proved themselves for decades, the Mulco-Europe-EWIV member com-pany ContiTech Antriebssysteme GmbH has developed the new polyurethane nubbed belt Synchrodrive N 10. A belt which com-bines this apparent contradiction with a common constructive solution that works.

Due to its particular suitability for transport applications as well as for tasks in the lower capacity linear and lifting technology area, the N10 with its offset nubbed profile on the bearing surface allows positive fit and self-guiding drive solutions. No guiding aids - such as flanges - are required. The power transmission surface of the synchronising pul-ley has recesses intermeshing with the nubs, and is inexpensive to produce.

Compared to conventional positive fit transmission systems, the poly-urethane nubbed belt N 10 does not produce a polygon effect. No more chattering noise as the belt rolls slip-free on an absolute arc of circle. This in turn dramatically reduces running noise, certain constel-lations permit a reduction of up to 5 dB. Furthermore, the N 10 - unlike belts with herringbone teeth for instance - is independent of a particu-lar running direction due to the shape of its nubs which is symmetrical in its circumferential direction.

Even over long distances, this N 10 belt is optimally guided by profile matched clamping plates made of HD polyurethane, developed by ContiTech. The width of the narrowest belt coincides at least with the width of one single nub, thereby guaranteeing not only a synchronous positive fit in the longitudinal direction but also lateral self-guidance. The nubbed belt Synchrodrive N 10 made of polyurethane is produced in open lengths and standard widths from 10 to 100 mm. It can be welded endless in any desired length (> 1000 mm). Made to measure dimensions are possible. For special transport applications, the belts can be customised by welding or gluing on any type of backing or flights.

In addition to its resistance to abrasion and the effects of ozone and UV radiation, this material is hydrolysis and temperature resistant from -30°C to +80°C. Oil, petrol and benzene have also no detrimental ef-fect on the material. The nubbed belt being maintenance free, there is no need for re-tensioning or lubrication. It is due to the steel cord ten-sion members that the belt tension remains unchanged.
