Perfectly meshed!

Whether high-performance AT and ATP, BAT curved teeth, SFAT offset teeth, or ATN system timing belts or GEN III high performance belts –Mulco knows no end when it comes to the development of polyurethane timing belts. And to ensure that every drive always runs perfectly smoothly, Mulco offers a selection of parts for all applications, carefully chosen to coordinate precisely with one another: synchronizing pulleys, self-tracking pulleys, belt tensioning pulleys, bed plates and much more. About 3,500 different accessory components are permanently available in stock.

"Having Mulco as our marketing organisation naturally enables us, first of all, to combine polyurethane timing belts such as BRECO and BRECOFLEX or SYNCHROFLEX“, explains Dipl.-Eng. Walter G. Schneck, Chairman of the Pulley Working Group within the Mulco-Europe EWIV as he displays a pulley made of high-tensile strength aluminium for a timing belt with AT profile. This pulley, used in the aviation industry, exemplifies all the technical complexity and high level of expertise offered and mastered in the modern production plants of the pulley manufacturers belonging to the Mulco Group; it has experienced virtually all the various processing steps, such as turning, milling, drilling, meshing and surface finishing.

"Even the best timing belt can only operate at maximum efficiency when it utilizes the best possible technological interplay of pulleys and other constructional accessory components," continues Mr. Schneck and invites us to take a tour of the German pulley production plants that manufacture exclusively for Mulco.

Targeted Investments

Although these manufacturers are, in keeping with the Mulco philosophy "meaningfully meshed“ with 15 strong sales partners throughout Europe as well as the two timing belt manufacturers, BRECO and ContiTech; and all are literally in the same boat, each individual company is also in its own way a perfect example of innovation, precision and quality "Made in Germany". Targeted investments in modern production parks and machines guarantee that the must-haves – serial production of the standardised Mulco pulley range and accessory parts at a reasonable price yet meeting the highest technological standards are just as efficient as the optional extras – development and production of the exacting components tailor-made to the individual specifications of the customer’s developer.

"Zero-Defect Production"

Profilators of the latest design are operating In the Mulco manufacturing companies in series production of pulleys and components. These compact machines with automatic feeders that incorporate several processing steps, such as multiple edge processing, tooth cutting, pointing and shifterstop processing, are accurate to within 1/100 of a millimetre and thus stand for a high degree of precision, "Zero-Defect Production", flexible production and short throughput times. Downstream measuring systems ranging from simple comparison of finished components by means of modern scanning systems using a Contouroscope (with up to 1/1000 of a millimetre resolution) to complex 3D measuring systems, guarantee adherence to meticulously defined quality standards.

Optimised Logistics

The standard in-stock range, which is constantly produced and available in sufficient quantity for both regional as well as Europe-wide and worldwide operating Mulco sales partners, currently comprises of more than 3,500 different pulleys, belt-tensioning pulleys, tension plates, clamping joints and bed plates. Optimised logistics ensure delivery, when necessary, within a maximum of 48 hours. A high degree of security for the customers of every Mulco sales partner, who are thus spared long production downtimes.

Special-purpose Pulleys for Formula-One Racing

Where you can really "allow your ideas free reign" though, explains the manager of a special-purpose pulley manufacturer of the Mulco-Europe EWIV, is in custom production. Highlights, which later can be found in the likes of Formula-One fireball racers, American Harley Davidson motorcycles, airships or also as part of the drive in back seat tables for an exclusive German automobile make are created in these production areas. The area of special productions relies exclusively on highly motivated employees with the best training, comprehensive know-how and many years of experience.

All Materials can be Processed

Today, there is virtually no combination of materials, whether aluminium, all conventional steel alloys, stainless steels or even plastics, that cannot be processed. All surface treatment processes are possible: anodising, hard anodising, hard coating, galvanising, burnishing, phosphatising, plasmatising, nitrocarburizing and many more. "We manufacture everything that is technologically possible and meets the requirements of our customers“, says the manager of one of the works, in which synchronising pulleys and shafts as well as self-tracking pulleys for precision drives are individually produced in ultramodern production plants. He draws the imaginary limit of potential beyond the current technological horizon, which is constantly moving farther and farther forwards: "Our special productions are not only technologically feasible, but also on the technological apex!“

Certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2000

"Let us have your drawing, we will take care of everything else", assures Dipl.-Eng. Walter G. Schneck. "Mulco was ahead of DIN 7721", he says, alluding to the technological leadership and competence of the group, for which the Mulco name has stood for more than 50 years. All pulley manufacturers who produce for the Mulco range, with more than 200 employees in the Production Department, are certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2000.

Innovative Forum

The Mulco "Pulley Manufacturer Working Group" sees itself as a forum, in which one may not only exchange technological information and develop common guidelines, but also work together on the future that never stands still. Just as Mulco knows no standstill in the development of polyurethane timing belts, this also goes for the pulley manufacturers, whose individual company profiles distinguish them from all the others and point the way to the future. They all have self-confidence and a clear independent profile in common, with which they accomplish their outstanding performance. "We allow ourselves to look back on our Mulco highlights such as the ATP, BAT or SFAT profiles", says Walter G. Schneck, "but we don’t let this or that success cloud our vision of continued competitiveness".
